Appointment today

We had an appointment with our regular OB office today. We met with Dr. Dunn and all is still looking great! My gestational diabetes test came back normal, so I passed! No worries there. My cervical length measured a 3.96! Even better than last week. We left that appointment very, very happy. I was very worried about the diabetes testing because if you get gestational diabetes it can really cause problems with a pregnancy, even more with a multiples pregnancy. Blood pressure is still good. The girls are kicking AND PUNCHING up a storm. All three are still head down so I feel kicking all the time at the top of my abdomen and I feel punching down around my pelvis. It doesn't hurt, just a very strange feeling.
Overall, everything is still looking good with the Huse Baby-Watch '09. :)

A BIG congratulations to our great friends, Tim and Kim, on the purchase of their first home!!! So exciting! Also, a BIG, BIG, congratulations to Tim and David on their promotions!!! Way to go you guys!

Appointment with High Risk Doc today

We had our appointment with Dr. Allen today and everything looks great! Baby A went from 1 lb. 2 oz. to 2 lbs. Baby B went from 1 lb. 2 oz. to 2 lbs. 1 oz. and Baby C went from 1 lb. 3 oz. to 1 lb. 15 oz. so almost two pounds. All of the babies are very close in weight and right on schedule for their growth. Dr. Allen was very pleased with everything. Right now all of the babies are head down toward my toes. That is why I can feel so much kicking toward the top of my abdomen, because ALL 6 FEET ARE THERE! :) Dr. Allen got some good ultrasound pictures today. Here are the two we got to keep.
This picture shows the top of all three heads, babies C, A, and B all snuggled up together...

This picture was a lucky shot...again you can see the top of all three heads and then you can see that Baby A (in the middle) has her legs pointed over her head with all ten toes ready for the shot...maybe she will be our tiny dancer with this much flexibility! :)

Our next appointment is with Dr. Beaird, our regular OB, on Wednesday. I will post again after that appointment. Love you all!

Appointment today!

My appointment with Dr. Beaird went very well today. First, I had to do my diabetes screening. You have to drink a sugary drink and then get your blood drawn for testing an hour later. Standard practice these days with all pregnant women. They gave me the drink and I think I really was expecting the worst, but it just tasted like Sprite. No biggie. I downed it and then went back to the waiting room until they were ready to take me back. When I got to see Dr. Beaird, he checked out each of the babies, all of the girls are moving a lot (I knew that already) and they have good heartbeats. My stomach is measuring at 35 weeks, I am actually at 25 weeks today. My cervix length measured a 3.36!!! That was so great to hear since we kind of had a busy weekend and increased activity can cause the cervix to shorten. So all is well. Dr. Beaird went ahead and had me schedule my weekly appointments out until the end of August and then I had my blood drawn for the diabetes testing. I should have those results by the end of the week or beginning of next week. Fingers crossed I don't have to go do more testing.
For the moms, I have updated the schedule of appointments posting on the blog so you can add all of the appointments to your calendar. Go to the main blog page, click on June postings, then click on Schedule of Appointments to see the updates.

Nursery!

Well, the nursery is complete! My best friend and #1 Interior Designer, Jill, spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday putting all of the nursery components together to make one stinkin cute room! I absolutely love it! Thank you, Jilly, for taking the time to go shop for the things we needed and painstakingly measure and hang and glue (hot glue burns and all). We love you!

Jill working her magic!

The girls' names all ready to be hung...

Jill hanging everything with perfection!

The final product....SOOOO CUTE!

Baby Shower!

My wonderful baby shower was this past Saturday! The hostesses did a fantastic job with everything. Thank you Jill for organizing the theme and the party. Thank you Jessica for the picture slide show and all the work you put into it. Brent and I both love it! I have posted alot of pictures for everyone that was not able to be there. Thank you to those that were able to make it. It meant so much to me to see everyone during my few hours out of the house. :)

A shot of the beautiful table....
The girls' names on a card representing the theme of the party...
My wonderful hostesses: Pam McKown, Kim Waddell, Jessica Kolar, me, Jill Hair, Alexis Parrish
My awesome cake!!! (from Patsy's in West, TX)
Best Diaper Cake EVER! My oldest sister, Mandy, put together this diaper cake...it is pretty awesome!
Opening gifts...these were blankets my sister Missy had embroidered with the girls' names...they are soooo soft!
More gifts...the cutest diaper bag I have ever seen! Thank you Erin Ivy! I love it!
The award for "Most Unique Gift" goes to my Aunt Susan, this is called a "Helping Hand" and you put it on or around the baby to comfort them...Aunt Susan says it is all the rage in England. Thank you Aunt Susan, you are awesome!
I didn't cry until I opened these gifts from my Mom. She made us three more blankets for the girls, gave us three little baby dolls with the each girl's name embroidered on one, and three little pink puppies with each girl's name embroidered on the ear. Mom has given one of these soft, flat puppies to each of her grandchildren and when I opened the bag and saw the puppy I immediately burst into tears. I know the girls will love them as much as their cousins do.
Me with all of the gifts displayed....what you can't see is the Pack 'N Play, two swings and a bouncer.
Me with the grandmothers, my mother-in-law, Brenda, (who hasn't picked out her grandparent name yet) and my Mom (Grammy).
Me with the best Aunts ever, Aunt Elizabeth (newly engaged!!!), Aunt Mandy and Aunt Missy.
Me with my sister, Missy, our new nephew, Peyton, my grandmother, Mamaw, and my Aunt Susan.

Thank you again to everyone that attended or brought a gift by for us! We love you all!

Appointment today

Our appointment this afternoon with Dr. Beaird went very well. My cervical length is a little bit better than last Wednesday. So we have seen improvement, but to err on the side of caution, Dr. Beaird would like to start seeing me every week. Our next appointment with him will be next Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:30 am. At this next appointment, I will have to do the glucose test for gestational diabetes. So I will have to drink the sugary drink when we get there, have our regular check-up with Dr. Beaird and then after an hour they will draw my blood to test for diabetes. I am praying the results from that test are negative, one less thing to worry about.
Dr. Beaird also told us that even though he has me on reduced activity bed rest, he would still like us to call for an appointment to get a tour of the new Hillcrest Women's and Children's Center and the new NICU and possibly to meet Dr. Wheeler, a neonatologist and the director of the NICU. I am looking forward to that! I was afraid we wouldn't get to see the new hospital before we delivered there.

Our Weekend

Yes, it is 12:30 am and I, of course, can't get to sleep. I spent some time looking for new books on Amazon for my Kindle but nothing is really appealing to me right now so I decided to blog about our weekend.

My wonderful mother came to visit this Saturday! With her she brought a ton of stuff for the babies. We got our car seats, triplet stroller and crib mattresses from Lone Star Baby in Frisco and mom brought a car-full of goodies with her on Saturday. She also brought the adorable bedding she has been working on over the past few weeks. I can't wait to see the nursery all put together and decorated! Jill, you have your work cut out for you. :) Here's a little sneak peak...the letters for each baby's name will be hung with cute ribbon over each crib. The paisley fabric is also used in the dust ruffles and the valance on the window.

While mom was here, Brent helped her get the dust ruffles and matresses in place on each of the cribs and hung the drapes Brent's mom was so sweet to make for us.

It is so funny the things new daddies latch onto when they are expecting a new baby, or babies. Out of all the adorable things mom brought with her on Saturday, the most exciting things for Brent were the car seats. I guess it is just like anything else in life for a man, if it has a manual, they are into it.

After mom headed back to Dallas Saturday evening, Brent spent his time in bed with me reading the Instruction and Safety manuel for the car seats. How to install them, what all the buttons, bells and whistles will do, etc...etc. He put one of the car seats on the bed so he could show me everything about it. When he was finally finished for the night, he lined the car seats up on the floor in the living room. He would just walk by and smile at them throughout the day Sunday. I thought it was so cute this evening, when he said, "I am going to go outside and install the bases in my truck so we can see what they are going to look like..." with that excited look in his eye. When he was finished, I took the short walk outside to check it out. It's a packed backseat, but very cute to see his truck all daddied out.

We then went over logistically the best way to load the babies into the car, seats first, then babies, or babies into their seats, then into the car? It is all very strategic, it has to be when we are having three. When we agreed on the best possible strategy, I went back inside to lay down and Brent went to work un-installing the bases.
I can't wait to see what he finds to be the most exciting thing next! My prediction is the baby monitor.

False Alarm...

So we had a little scare last night. I, of course, was having trouble getting to sleep. Around 12:30 am I was in the living room trying to sleep in the recliner when I felt a major abdominal cramp. The tight feeling around my belly was major and something I had never felt before. A little painful, but no more than a regular menstrual cramp. I went into the bedroom and woke Brent up to tell him about it. We decided to sit up for a little while to see if I had another contraction. About 15-16 minutes later another contraction hit me and it was a little more painful than the first.
Brent immediately sprung into action trying to get clothes for me so we could go to the hospital. I convinced him to let me call the on-call doctor first and see what they said. I paged the on-call doctor and Dr. Dunn called me back. I explained to him what I was feeling and he said that we didn't need to rush to the hospital just yet. He told me to drink two glasses of water and keep timing the contractions. He also said that sometimes you can have a few contractions and then they just stop. Dr. Dunn said that if I continued to have contractions at regular intervals in the next two hours then we needed to go to the hospital so I could get checked out.
Well, after I spoke to Dr. Dunn the contractions stopped. I fell asleep about an hour later. Brent ended up not getting a wink of sleep the rest of the night. I had an appointment scheduled for today to get my weekly injection, so I called to see if Dr. Beaird could squeeze me in to check everything out. We saw him this morning and he checked on the babies and checked to see if I was dilated. Babies were great and I am not dilated. But to be on the safe side, Dr. Beaird asked me to reduce my activity even more. Limit the amount of times I get out of bed and the amount of walking around the house I do each day. Up to this point, I have been staying in bed all day except to get breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks, use the bathroom or shower. All of those trips to the kitchen and the bathroom can add up during the day. So, to help limit my trips even more, Brent is getting a mini fridge to put next to the bed for water and refrigerated snacks to keep me from going back and forth to the kitchen throughout the day.
Dr. Beaird told us that one or two contractions an hour is not cause for alarm. But, if I have more than four in one hour, I need to call him or go to the hospital to get checked.
Everything else is great! I feel fine today and I haven't had any contractions...so far, so good. :)

Brent's Latest Handiwork

With the anxious arrival of our three little girls, we (meaning Brent...) have been busy moving things around, cleaning out closets and organizing what is left. In turning our guest bedroom into a nursery, our office became our guest bedroom. We have to have a place for our family to sleep when they come to help with the girls immediately after their birth. That left us without an office. Our brilliant solution to the lack of space was to turn our guest bedroom closet into an office. We cleared out all of the extra things we had stored there that we never touch and pared down to the office essentials. Then Brent got to work. He built a desk for our laptop and shelving for office supplies. We are keeping our small filing cabinet beneath the desk and so far, we still have some extra space in the closet/office. Brent also left a small area for Mom (or whoever is staying with us) to hang her clothes when she comes to help with her three new little grandbabies. Three coats of paint later, here is his final product...

Ultrasound Today

We had our next ultrasound with Dr. Allen, our high risk doctor, this afternoon. We are at 22 weeks today and everything is still looking perfect according to Dr. Allen. The babies' weights are perfect. Baby A is currently at 1 lb. 2 oz; Baby B is currently at 1lb. 2 oz.; Baby C is 1 lb. 3oz. They have each gained 10 oz. in the past 4 weeks. They are on the right track for development and we will see Dr. Allen again in another three weeks.
I have to say that I love getting to see our babies every few weeks either with Dr. Beaird or Dr. Allen, but Dr. Allen has to poke and prod and push on my enlarging belly to get a clear shot of all parts of each of the three babies and sometimes it really hurts. Ouch! Brent was holding my hand during the first part of the ultrasound until he wriggled his way free from my vice grip to let his blood recirculate.
My most recent food cravings have included a Schmaltz's ham and cheese sandwich, those quick shop chocolate and powdered donuts by Mrs. Bairds with strawberry flavored milk, and deviled eggs...separately; not all at the same time.
Sleeping is still a toss up. I never know if it will be a good night or a bad one. Brent was able to get us one of the much anticipated Lay-Z-Boy recliners we ordered, and it has lived up to the hype. Love it!
