Happenings Around the Huse Household

In the past week, our girls have been to the park for the first time, on a walk with mom and dad and they have been trying to roll all over the house.
The park wasn't what I would call a success. We met my friend, Pam, and her little man, Matthew, at the park for a little walk. The girls were a little cranky and we weren't there 25 minutes and Reagan had a meltdown, a major one. Tears streaming, I want my Momma kind of meltdown. So our little outing was very, very short.
Our walk around the neighborhood went much more smoothly. We loaded the girls up in the triplet stroller and brought our British lab, Berkley, along for the walk. The weather was great and we had a good time getting outside and chatting with some of our neighbors.
We also have a new face around the house. I had been searching for a Baylor student to help me a few times a week with the girls so I can get out of the house to run errands or just have some help with the girls. I interviewed a few ladies who e-mailed me about the job and I instantly liked Sarah. :)

She is great with the girls and they just love her. All smiles from the girlies when Sarah is here.
She has helped me out so much. I finally feel like I can get out, or have help getting the girls out of the house once and a while.
Here are a few new pictures of the girls...

Wedding Weekend!

Last weekend was the girls' Aunt Elizabeth's wedding to Adam Crews. We loaded up the girls and our packed car (for two nights stay in a hotel) and headed to Fort Worth on Friday. Grammy and Pop met us there to take care of the girls while Brent and I did our duties as a bridesmaid and groomsman in the wedding. Thank you Grammy and Pop!!!
Thankfully, Gran and Grandaddy made sure we had adjoining rooms to Grammy's room so we could spread out the stuff and keep the girls separated for naps and bedtime. The girls did pretty well adjusting to the hotel rooms and we kept them on schedule for the most part.
The wedding was beautiful! Only one out of the three girls made it through the ceremony. Addie and Baylee had to be taken out of the sanctuary to the lobby until it was over. Thank you Pam and Eskew family for helping with the girls during the wedding! They were so tired but we did the best we could to have them in the family pictures the professional photographer took. After some quick pictures with the girls, Grammy and Pop loaded them up and took them to the reception.
Our little exhausted trio only spent about 20 to 30 minutes at the reception. As soon as the loud music and clapping started they freaked out a little and I had to rush Reagan out to calm her down. It was downhill from there, as soon as the buffet lines opened all of the guests came by to see the girls and Reagan was so tired all she could do was cry when anyone smiled at her. I finally had to take her out to the lobby to get her to calm down and stop crying.
We had some late nights over the weekend so on Sunday, Brent and I both felt a little hungover...not so much from drinking because we didn't really drink that much, but more from lack of sleep.
We would have gotten more pictures but I remembered everything except to charge the camera battery before we left the house. Oops. It died on us right about the time Elizabeth and her Dad started the Father-Daughter dance...dang!
My birthday was Sunday and the girls' "Aunt" Jill offered to watch the trio for us while Brent took me to lunch. We dropped them off and went to have Mexican food while the girls were playing with Jill, her husband, Randy, and her mom, Cynthia. By the time we got back the girls were ready for a nap in the car on the way home. Traffic kept us on the road longer than we would have liked so we still had to endure the extreme crying from Baylee on the way home.
But it was all worth it when we got home and the girls had a great night back in their own beds. They slept from 7pm last night until 7:30 am this morning. What a great birthday present!

Am I Crazy?

I asked Brent as we got back into the car this afternoon, "Am I crazy?" His answer was simple..."Yes."
I decided I wanted some professional pictures of the girls at 6 months old. I wanted something that looked decent and wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg to get a few prints to hand out to family.
Last week I got a coupon in the mail from Sears Portrait Studio and I thought, perfect! I ran it by Brent and set up an appointment for this Sunday afternoon during the girls' afternoon awake time. I figured it would be tight, but that we could handle it. I just really wanted some professional pics of the girls at various milestones and 6 months seemed like enough time since our last photo shoot.
We got the girls up and loaded them in the car and headed to Sears. Gran met us there to help wrangle babies. :) Thanks Gran! We couldn't have done it alone!
All was going well, until we actually got to the studio. The weather outside has gotten very nice, low 70's for our high, but it was HOT AS BLAZES in that dang studio. I swear, we were sweating from the minute we stepped into that place. And the poor girls, Addie and Reagan have their mother's skin tone, which I got mostly from my Dad, their Pop. Their little cheeks turned bright red because they were so hot. When we finally left Sears, Brent said, "Addie and Reagan looked just like your Dad." He tends to get red cheeks if he is hot or red faced if he is really pissed. ;)
Because it was so hot, our usual smiling babies did not want to smile much. They looked miserable. And we had a really hard time just getting Baylee to stop crying for a decent photo.
When all was said and done, and done really quickly, I think we were in there a total of 20 minutes, we then had to pick out the "package" we wanted. And of course, the coupon I had for the really great price was an all or nothing deal. You couldn't add on a la cart items and get the same price for the package. I had been duped. So we ended up getting their cheapest package and then getting the CD of the images so I can print them or post them or whatever I want.
So, we have decided, we won't be doing that again any time soon. I have decided I would rather pay a friend or friend of a friend that takes pictures as a hobby to come shoot our girls for their 1 year pictures, than spend our time doing that again. If you know of anyone, leave me a comment or send me an e-mail. michelleannhuse@gmail.com I just want a few good pics that I don't have to pay hundreds of dollars for, is that too much to ask?
Here is what we ended up with...and yes, immediate family, you will get a copy of the family pic. :)

We Got One!!!

We now have A CHOO CHOO WAGON!!! Are you as excited as we are?!
We bought our choo choo, with FIVE CARS, from a family in Sugarland. This precious mother has a set of QUAD BOYS and an older daughter, I finally get to say what everyone says to me...I can't even imagine. :)
We thought about selling two of the extra cars, but then Brent and I decided to keep the whole wagon so we can tote around some of our friends' kids with the girls when they get old enough. Savin' a car for you, little cutie, Matthew Ray McKown!
I just thought I would let everyone know, the search is over!
Thanks to everyone who sent me links on Craigslist or Ebay to choo choos around Texas! Your help is very appreciated.

6 Month Update

Friday was the girls' 6 month checkup. Everyone is doing great and growing like weeds!
Here are their stats:
Baylee - 16 lbs. and 25 1/2 inches long

Addison - 16.2 lbs and 25 1/2 inches long

Reagan - 16.3 lbs and 26 inches long

The girls received all of their 6 month shots, a heel stick blood draw to check for anemia and an oral vaccine for Rotovirus. Ouch! Not fun. I think the Rotovirus really did Reagan in. She started having diarrhea immediately after her appointment and it has continued through the weekend. She also spiked a fever of 102.3 after her morning nap on Saturday. She was miserable. I gave her some Tylenol and stripped her down to her diaper and rocked her all afternoon so she would sleep. Her fever came down but her mood didn't improve until later that evening. She is happy today, but can't seem to get rid of that diarrhea.

Grammy came down to help me take the girls to their appointment and after their appointment, we headed to Grammy and Pop's house in Gunter for the weekend. I was planning on going to Brent's cousin's baby shower on Saturday in Plano and Brent was going to come up after work so he could attend his future brother-in-law's bachelor party on Saturday night in Dallas. I didn't make it to the shower since Reagan got sick and I couldn't bear to leave Grammy with one very sick baby and two other babies to care for by herself. Other than Reagan being very sick, we had a great weekend in Gunter.

We headed back home early this morning, and for those of you that wonder what we go through when we have to travel...this video is a little taste of what it is like for us.

***(To get the full effect of this video, scroll to the bottom of this page and hit the Pause button on my Playlist. This will pause the music and allow you to hear the sound in the video. Enjoy!)***

This was after we had already stopped twice, once to calm crying babies and change Reagan's diaper, and the second time we stopped to feed everyone. They wouldn't eat much, so we got back on the road and the screaming began. They just can't handle being in their car seats for more than 2 hours tops. Brent and I resorted to turning up 90's on 9 and singing at the top of our lungs after the Traveling Melodies CD failed to calm them down. They eventually settled down, but it was tough for about 45 minutes. We made it home and the girls had a great 2 and 1/2 hour afternoon nap. :) Their next out of town trip will in two weeks for their Aunt Elizabeth's wedding.
